Ana Maria Rosato decided that the public conversation had to focus its attention on women.
For that reason she interviewed the experts – physicians who provide healthcare for women – and asked them what a ban on abortion care would mean for their practice and for women’s health.
Ana Maria produced ACLU of Georgia’s Stop. The. Bans. American Physicians Speak Out, a 36-video original series. She traveled across the nation to interview 19 physicians from diverse medical disciplines: obstetrics and gynecology, cardiology, emergency medicine, family medicine, psychiatry, psychology, internal medicine, maternal fetal medicine, and oncology.
What she learned was that the effect of re-outlawing abortion care went far beyond limiting or eliminating access to abortion care, as detrimental as that would be by itself for women’s healthcare and lives. An abortion ban has even greater implications for women to access to healthcare, period.
Watch the short videos below to hear what physicians have to say about abortion bans and the horrible consequences abortion bans have on women’s healthcare and on physicians’ ability to provide the best healthcare for their patients.
